Scouts, Service Groups, and other Volunteers,

 

This cleanup covers the Guadalupe River from Canyon Dam to Lake Dunlap, the entirety of the Comal River, Lake Dunlap, and portions of Landa Lake.  This year’s event will be help on September 19, 2009. 

 Please note that one major change this year is that a fee of $2 for each participant will be due at the registration table when your group checks-in the weekend of the event.

 

Below are instructions for how to register. 

 

Registration

Registrations will only be accepted by email.
To Register please answer the following questions and email to Nathan Pence at npence@nbtexas.org
  1. Group Name or Troop Number
  2. Name of Point of Contact
  3. Mailing Address
  4. E-Mail Address
  5. Phone Number
  6. Number of participants (including adults)
  7. Average age range of participants
  8. If camping which nights will you be staying?
  9. Is your group experienced Canoers or Kayakers?  If so do you have your own equipment that you could bring?
  10. Can adults from your group assist with serving of dinner Saturday night?  If so how many adults can help?
  11. Can your group or troop perform a skit at the Saturday night bonfire?  An answer of yes commits your group to perform Saturday night.

 

All information listed above is required to be officially registered for the event.  Without complete information groups will not be considered registered/confirmed for the clean-up.  After receiving the above information, your group will be registered and you will receive a confirmation email with additional information.

  

Other Information to Consider:

1) Your groups ratio must be no larger than 10 children per adult

2) Waiver form must be completed properly for each member of your group/troop or you will not be allowed to participate.  You may turn it in at the registration table the day of the event

3) The only meal provided will be dinner Saturday Evening

 

Items to bring for the day of the cleanup and take on the water with you:

1) Sack lunch & drinks for all participants

2) Troop Leaders should have a first aid kit

3) Troop Leader must have mobile phone for emergency contact.  You will be provided emergency contact information

4) Don’t forget your sunscreen, hat, and drinking water.

Registration Instructions

2009 Guadalupe River Clean-Up

Saturday, September 19, 2009

 

Location: Cypress Bend Park.  Located on Peace Ave at the Guadalupe River in New Braunfels.  Reservations must be made by August 21st, 2009.  To register email Nathan Pence at npence@nbtexas.org . 

 When you arrive at Cypress Bend, all Troop leaders need to check in at the registration table.  We ask that the Scouts remain quite after 10:00. P.M. so as to not impose on other campers.  Bathrooms are available, please help keep them clean.  We are guests of the City.

 Transportation will be provided by river outfitters to your up river clean-up point.  Personal Flotation Devices (PFD’s) and watercraft (rafts) for Clean-Up will be provided by river outfitters.  Bring your lunch, water, hats, first-aid kits and sunscreen with you for Saturday, you will be on  river for 4-5 hours. 

 You will be given a garbage/trash bag to put your collected trash in.  Each person participating in the Clean-Up will be required to fill their trash bag for a Tee-shirt and special event patch.  No ground fires are permitted.  All fires for the purposes of cooking must be in a grill or elevated pit.

 A Campfire Extravaganza will be provided Saturday Night.

FROM THE AUSTIN AREA

--Take IH 35 South, towards San Antonio.

--Take Exit #189 and turn right on HWY 46/Loop 337.

--Follow Loop 337 to Common Street (about 1 ½ miles).

--Turn left onto Common Street.

--Drive several blocks until you cross the Guadalupe River.

--Turn left onto Peace Avenue.

--Cypress Bend Park is at the end of the street.

 

FROM THE SAN ANTONIO AREA

--Take IH 35 North, towards Austin.

--Take Exit #188 and turn left at light onto Hwy 46/Loop 337.

--Follow Loop 337 to Common Street (about 1 ½ miles).

--Turn left onto Common Street.

--Drive several blocks until you cross the Guadalupe River.

--Turn left onto Peace Avenue.

--Cypress Bend Park is at the end of the street.
